Everton vs Burnley: Preview

On Saturday evening Everton welcome Burnley to Goodison Park as they look to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat away to Chelsea.

The loss in West London saw the blues drop to 6th place in the table. However, a win here would see them move back into 5th, ahead of West Ham who face a difficult trip to Old Trafford.

Everton have won three of their last five games coming into this one, whilst Burnley are without a win in five matches.

The toffees home form has been patchy at best this season but they come into this one having got a much needed 1-0 victory in their last home game against Southampton.

If they are victorious against Burnley on Saturday, Everton will have won back to back home games for only the third time this season.

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina and Tom Davies are all fit again after recent injury issues.

However, James Rodríguez is still unavailable and Abdoulaye Doucouré will also be absent after sustaining a fracture in his foot which is set to leave him sidelined for 8-10 weeks.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is also a doubt after a slight ankle problem against Chelsea.

Ancelotti’s Everton have looked at their best when they are the side with less of the ball, however they won’t be able to play defensive against Sean Dyche’s men.

Burnley will be physical, and look to sit deep. Meaning Everton will likely see a lot of the ball and they’re going to have to really take the game to the clarets.

It’s surely going be attritional game and most likely not one for the neutral. If Sigurdsson plays I’d edge Everton to have the creativity needed to break down a solid Burnley side, if not they may struggle.

Prediction - Everton 1-0 Burnley

Last 5 Meetings (PL):

• Burnley 1-1 Everton

• Everton 1-0 Burnley

• Burnley 1-0 Everton

• Everton 2-0 Burnley

• Burnley 1-5 Everton
